Your account should be ready to use within two to three working days from the day we received your application.
Initial login password will be mailed to you after your account is opened or an activation code will be sent by SMS if you have registered a mobile phone number.
Your login ID and login password are important to verify your identity and therefore it is imperative not to disclose your password to anyone else.
Your account number components signify the type of account(s) you own:
A client account number includes the following component (each character represents a digit placeholder): AA-XXXXX-BB-YYY

A registered client of Electronic Services can inquire status of his/her account(s) by login the trading account.
For Electronic Service Securities Account, you can send us an instruction to withdraw to your designated bank account by clicking “Account Enquiry” after logging in your account. Then select “Fund Transfer” and enter the amount you wish to withdraw. To register a HK bank account with us, please complete and return the “Change of Personal Particular & eStatement Service Form”.
Daily account statement will be sent to your mailing address or email address in the next business day once any transactions are made. Monthly account statement summarizes all activities in your account during any specific month and will be sent to you in the beginning of the next month. You can also retrieve the statements of the past 3 months in eServices for free. There will be charges if you request the statements that are over the past 3 months and the statements will be sent to you by mail. Please complete and return the “Request of Account Statement Duplicates / Certification Form”.

2. After your identity is verified, we will send you a new activation code by SMS (only applicable for client who has registered a mobile phone number) or by mail. Please note that for joint account and corporate account, login password will only be sent to mailing address.
Passwords must be 6-8 alphanumeric characters long, consisting of any combination of letters and digits. Please note that passwords are case sensitive.
Securities account will be offered 0.001%p.a. interest rate when your cash balance in HK Market reaches over HK$50,000.
Clients can transfer their stocks between Online and Offline accounts once their stocks have been settled. Please complete and return the “Securities Withdrawal/Transfer/Change Holder's Name Form”.
A Margin Account is an account in which you can trade through margin financing. Investors are required to deposit a certain amount of funds into their margin account beforehand, after which they can purchase stocks worth more than the principal fund available in their account. Haitong International Securities will finance the trading amount difference. However, the securities will be held in custody with Haitong International as collateral. As the price of securities may fluctuate, Haitong International Securities reserves the right to request clients to deposit additional funds or securities if the client's margin position fell below the maintenance level.
If a client's account shows a debit balance, client will undertake to pay interest to Haitong International Securities. (Please refer to related Fees & Charges information.)
The margin financing interest rate is set by Haitong International Securities and subject to change from time to time. Haitong International Securities will notify clients of any change in the margin financing interest rate by mail.
Available Balance (AB) is the sum of the cash balance, previous day stock holding discounted value and net pending settlement less holding balance.
AB Calculation method:
AB = Cash Balance (excluding clearing checks) +
Previous Day Stock Holding Discounted Value** (calculated in nominal price) +
Net Pending Settlement – Holding Balance
Example:
If a client has $10,000 cash and the discounted value of the previous day's stocks is $22,000 (#665, $5.50@ 4,000)。AB:$10,000 + $22,000 = $32,000。
** The total discounted value of stocks is the nominal value of the stock multiplied by the margin rate and number of stocks on hand, which is the number of shares held on the previous trading day less any stock sold on that day. Please note that stocks bought on the same day would not be included in calculation of discounted value of stock in AB.)

Upon receipt of your complaint, we will give you a preliminary response with regard to your complaint within 3 days from the date of receipt. After which, we will carry out an investigation based on your complaint and information given to us. The investigation will be assigned to an experienced officer who has no direct connection to this case. All information gathered in the investigation will be analyzed and a subsequent response in detail will be given to the complainant within 3 weeks upon the completion of the investigation. If your complaint is substantiated, we will make appropriate remedy to you but is not necessarily in the form of pecuniary compensation.
We will do our best to handle your complaint, but it may require longer time for some cases. For such cases, we will keep you inform of the progress as soon as possible.
